FDA Approved

A Familiar Medication

Semaglutide is the generic version of Ozempic and Wegovy

Tested and Proven Results

Studies have shown an average weight loss around 15% of your body weight. Results may very depending on duration of treatment

Semaglutide is a peptide which mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1). It targets an area of the brain which regulates appetite and satiety. It also slows down gastric emptying leaving you full sooner and for longer. It takes approx.. one week for semaglutide to be eliminated through the urine and therefore is dosed as a subcutaneous injection once weekly.

Is it new?
Semaglutide has been around as the brand name of Ozempic since 2017 and has been used to treat diabetes primarily but because of how effective it has become, compounded generic forms of semaglutide are being used for weight loss.

How effective is it?
The initial study performed by the FDA called the STEP1 trial performed in March 2021 showed an average of 14.9% body weight loss while also adhering to 150 minutes per week of physical activity. In our clinic, we have shown that most of our patients experience weight loss and we routinely see patients losing 20% or more body weight. For example a recent female patient who began at 260lbs after 4 months of treatment weighed in at 198lbs. which is 23.8% body weight loss.

Are there any side effects or problems with Semaglutide?
There are common side effects of Semaglutide which include mostly gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort and reflux. To virtually eliminate these symptoms we gradually increase the dose monthly beginning at 0.5mg and reaching 2.4mg within 16 weeks. Out of approximately 40 patients who we treat with Semaglutide, only 2 patients have not been able to tolerate side effects.
